If you would like to train like an Ironman but not yet commit to the race, CSR will give you the coaching, but more importantly, provide the interaction with athletes who have finished Ironman. After one year of our program, you will have the confidence to participate at any Ironman worldwide. Cal has coached Cancer Survivors, Physically Challenged, Older and Over Weight athletes to become Ironman Athletes. Given the time and the perfect program, you will get to the finish line! His depth of knowledge with these special populations in physiology, anatomy and structural health is unique.

The key to his program and what could be the single most important factor when training for such an ultra endurance event is "controlled intergration and strategic progression of ALL disciplines with forced periods of rest and rejuvination both physically and mentally". For example, because the entire triathlon program is INTEGRATED, he ensures that after a hard run session, the following day will be a recovery swim with maybe some deep water running. CoachCal is the only Endurance Coach in Alberta to attend the prestigious Ironman Medical Conference in Hawaii, the week before Ironman. He attended the conference in 2004 and now 2006! This 5 day seminar puts the best sport medical doctors, exercise physiologists and nutritionists in one room. This ground breaking knowledge will give you the edge in your training, recovery, injury prevention, race strategy, nutrition complication and more! GROUP TRAINING BENEFIT
CSR offers unique programs that provide the most indoor coached group training in Calgary. The majority of athletes can swim and run any time of the year, but off season biking remains the difficult discipline to develop. For this reason, we offer 2 coached swim sessions per week at the YWCA at PRIME TIME (6:00pm-7:15pm), and more focus on longer indoor rides, BRICK sessions and vertical snowshoeing along with outdoor running and track sessions. No need to do weight training as after most group training sessions, we do a series of conditioning for strength and power development. CSR offers the perfect blend of weekly training with mini or HA camps and EPIC training camps necessary to build that training volume.
